Johan Reinholdz was born on 30 June 1980 in Höör. He first picked up the guitar at the age of nine, inspired mainly by Kee Marcello and Europe. Later he discovered heavy metal by listening to bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, Sepultura, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Morbid Angel and Pantera. He then started playing with his friends in some local bands such as Morbid Demons, Widow, Dark Desires and Crimson Tears. Widow released three demos and played local gigs .
Over time, several more musical influences were added to his musical interest. Artists like Sisters of Mercy, Enya, Yngwie Malmsteen, The Cure, Yes, Dream Theater, Genesis, Atheist, Marillion, and some classical music and jazz/fusion influences as well.
When playing in Widow, who played heavy/thrash-metal, from '95 to '99, Johan also wrote music for various sideprojects, including classical influenced guitarpieces, gothic rock, deathmetal, symphonic music and progressive rock. In '98 he recorded two demos; Maiden Voyage and Welcome to Forever, which mainly contained heavy progressive rock and lengthy guitarsolo-escapades.
Welcome to Forever attracted the attention of the record label WAR-music. They wanted to release an album in the vein of the heavy, progressive tunes on Welcome to Forever. Johan got to work and during the summer and autumn of '99 he wrote the songs for Extension of the Wish and came up with the name for the band: Andromeda. The second album II=I came out in 2003 and as of 2015 Andromeda has toured all of Europe and most oi the rest of the world, released five studio albums and one live-DVD (see Bands/Projects page). A new live-DVD - Live in Vietnam - filmed at the National Stadium in Hanoi 2014 - is soon to be released and the recordings for studio album number 6 are set for early 2016.
The first Nonexist album Deus Deceptor came out in 2002 and in 2011 Reinholdz started writing the second Nonexist album From My Cold Dead Hands. It was then recorded in 2011/2012 with Johan Liiva back on vocals, and released by Pivotal Rockordings in November 2012 and by Japanese label Trooper Entertainment in May 2013. This album was the debut as a producer for Reinholdz, doing all the mixing, producing and mastering himself. The band made their live-debut at the Scorched Tundra Festival in Gothenburg, December 2012. In 2014 Nonexist started recording their third album entitled Throne of Scars and by early 2015 it was mixed and ready. It was released by Trooper Entertainment in Japan in August 2015 and in the rest of the world in October by Danish label Mighty Music. In November the same year Johan Liiva quit the band and Reinholdz took over the role as frontman in Nonexist on a permanent basis: doing both guitar and vocals live and on recordings.
In 2004 Johan joined his old friends in Skyfire as a full-time member. The fourth studio-album Esoteric was released as well the EP Fractal.
Other bands that Johan has recorded with are Opus Atlantica - (S/T) and a new electronic project called Murdered Beats together with Sofia Bennrup.
Johan currently also composes material for his forthcoming solo album, which will be released in 2017.
